Hi Imran, >It looks like neither Junior nor Nimzo has any route to attack the opponent's >backward pawns. It also seems that there is no easy way to open up the position, >so I think it is drawn despite what the evaluation says. If the position were to >be opened up, it would have to be by Junior's choice, because he has the knight >on b6. However I don't think Junior will a pawn down.... Any thoughts? I just happen to have access to an Alpha workstation today. "DarkThought WCCC'99" suggests for "Nimzo 8" to play 43... Nc6 which would open the position a bit and create some chances for a future outside black passer on the Queen-side. "DarkThought" also prefers Black and scores it as being up +0.77 after completing iteration 15. =Ernst= P.S. WWW pages of "DarkThought" at http://supertech.lcs.mit.edu/~heinz/dt/.
