One personality may come out on top in one tourney, then dead last in the next. I think this is true for two reasons: a)Since it's the same engine with only different settings, the search is going to be very similar, so the strengths of each personality are probably within 40 rating points of each other. Therefore most tournaments with so little games will be mostly up to chance. and b) There are a lot of lines in the book that Chessmaster can't handle for either white or black. This can results in a win or loss that you can blame on the book not the engine. I think a good idea is to figure out a few personalities you really like, include the default Chessmaster personality, and play a HUGE tournament. Lots of games, none of the 10 game stuff. This way other factors will be filtered out. Tournament time control is also another good idea. Good luck and regards.
