Subject: Re some question WMCCC

I actualy not even looked at the games of the WMCCC but What was written was
some how weird.

I think what Blas Uri Had written was close to the point
The strenght of Schreder4 and 5 is it's positional strenght
Some program's do have some trouble finding answers against this
(But the same already happens if you use the botvinik personelety from
chessmaster6000 against many programs
Actualy an old anelyze from me wich now became the game Dortmund Kramnik also
Junior6 ( he also used the same words as I did in my anelyzes that some pawn
structures are dificult for a chessprogram because of the horizon problems
Brought me back to the point wich actualy is the weaknes of many programs
a program always defends or atacks but never nows how to build up a counter
atack (it rather defends then)
Sometimes Junior builds up a counter atack (wich maybe is imposible because a
program only looks in +'s en -'s )
but even this is seldom
A think that most openingsbooks will be fine for most programs ( though I must
admit that I hate it when an openingsline is used where the program only finds
difecultys with)
cause I have seen manny programs wich couldn't find the way to play in the
greatest openinglines ( then I have to say that in these greatest openinglines
every move can be important sometimes till move 40 or 50 a great example of that
was the game Kasparov versus world or some games I posted here from the Alapin
defense of the Sicilian)
It is doesn,t make sence to use these lines aslong as the program finds all the
moves by it self when out of book
I actualy always only made these anelyzes in hope that programs could improve
from this
But I can't say that the programs from last year where great
Actualy all had bugs but most to greedy
(I don't say Junior was good but it was very intresting and for sure an
improvement above Junior 5 where I do have my doubts about the others ok in
program to program race they where but for real?)
I hope I have written some useful thoughts here if not I am sory for wasting
your time and space.
greetings Marc van Hal
