Subject: A suggestion for the ssdf

1)I suggest that the ssdf will stop testing programs that are more than one year
old like Junior5 and Fritz3.

The reason is the fact that I believe that programs can get 50-100 elo
improvement by adding killer book lines to the opening book.

It is possible to get 100% score against programs like Junior5 by playing
hundreds of games against it and saving the winning games as part of the book.

This idea is not going to work against new programs because it is impossible to
expect their moves.

Nobody used this idea in the past but I think it is better to fix problems
before they happen and not after they happen.

2)I think that it may be also better if the ssdf will have only
fritz,Junior,Crafty in the list without version number when they test always the
latest version.

The programmers can send the ssdf the latest versions if they care about the
rating of their programs.

3)If people want to compare new programs with old programs the best way is to
use a secret opening positions for the games so it will be impossible to prepare
killer line for these games.

This is not going to help to get rating for the programs(because the book is
part of the program) but I think that this information may be interesting for
customers.

The positions can be discovered only after the test is done and are going to be
changed for the next test.
