I thought that perhaps the middle game was beefed up some and, as >always, Shredder was real strong in the end game. I worked on all parts of Shredder but I mainly improved Shredder's tactical strength. Check the move Bc4 against Nimzo where Shredder saw that Qxb4 is loosing and found the only escape. Well, not a real escape as the position is probably still lost but at least I was back in the game. I am not sure if Shredder4 or other programs will find Bc4 quickly. Also against SOS and ZChess Shredder saw the win much earlier than his opponents as the game got tactical. I also improved king safety. See for example the pawn sacrifice on g5 agaist SOS. > >Can you make some comments on the games against Rebel and Junior. Against Rebel Shredder was lost leaving his opening book. Rebel didn't find the right plan to win so Shredder got a draw. Against Junior I guess that Shredder had a good positon after the opening book, although Junior thought all the time that the game was even. Junior played very strong in that game and outplayed Shredder. I am not sure where Shredder played a weak move, I guess that c5 was not so good, also g3 was provbably a mistake, but I haven't analysed the games yet. Junior got a probably won endgame but Shredder defended well and got a draw. I also was disappointed being outplayed by Junior but please don't forget that Junior is also very strong and was playing for the title as well. Stefan
