I can add that the problem is that programs do not earn the same speed from the new processors. It is possible that program A is 5 times faster on PIII1000 relative to P200MMX when program B is 7 times faster. Program A can earn more from bigger hash tables than program B. This is the reason that you cannot know about the level of programs on your computer even if you change the time control. Inspite of this fact uniform platform may give better information for the customers than not uniform platform because the difference is smaller. I think that a better idea than uniform platform for the customers should be uniform price. All the participants will be allowed only to use hardware when the price is lower than 1500$ Uri
