I guess my own interest is only directly related to the adapter, which is why
now I don't mind running them as opposed to previously.

My concern with using the Winboard version is simply Crafty's book, which one,
how big, book settings for strongest play etc. As a comparison for me is are
there any differences between the adapter eng and the normal eng using the same
book and reversing colors seems logical.

Though you are right I believe as to Pavel's long stated belief, which was that
Crafty with Crafty book was stronger than CB Crafty with general.ctg. I am just
not sure that answers my own questions about the adapter.

In the SSDF's case I never asked a question which was if they are using F6
general.ctg are they using one copy on the harddrive with learning? or did they
when they first used Crafty start it with a fresh book?. I assume they used
whatever book learning currently existed up to that point in the book file and
therefore Crafty begun with a book that had another programs learning in it.
