Jaap v.d. Herik told me this during the tournament: Your comments are correct
except that you do not take into account the improvised Junior-SOS pairing in
the first round (Junior was supposed to play Ruy Lopez, the no-show).

I am told that Jaap is an expert on swiss pairings, having guided students on
this subject. I guess since you are an expert yourself, you will understand his
point.
