Your browser remembers the initially typed name and password, and associates it with the (initial) URL. Later it will quietly transfer this autherization data along with a request of any URL, which starts with the original URL. (somewhat simplified) Normally a browser will not write this data permanently to the disk, but rather only remember it in core. Therefore, the next browser session will have to ask, again. May be you started another browser session? Otherwise I have no idea, I do not experience the effect you describe, except whit fresh browser sessions. Heiner
