(I'm sorry, but I've been here less than a year). >S.Taylor there is a cd version (version arround 2.00 or 2.01) you have to pay for. this versions seems also to be downloadable. also there is an update for owners of 2.00 2.01. this update is for free. there is a version for programmers, but this plays weak, the engine for playing s broken. thats version 2.50. it`s just made for programmers who are interested to get their engine ready for the cstal user interface. chris stopped programming (as far as i know) because he get rid of the technical-guys and the bean-counter colleagues and the endless arguments. he likes to do something, and to try it out. he did not stop - as you mention - because it was impossible to improve the project. in fact - cstal improves with any hardware-progress since cstal profits more from speed than the bean-counter programs (junior/fritz/nimzo etc.).
