Subject: Nostalgy Tournament: Actual Situation

Hi all, nostalgic people:
This is the situation after looking the post related with this issue:
a) Peter and Uwe have joined the party. Welcome. Now we need some
ladies...
b) Half an hour per move is suggested as a good transaction.
Nevertheless, the owner of the old Mephisto ask one hour due the very
special -slow- search function of that program. I thinks he is right and
even if another rythm is selected, I think Mephisto should be aloud to
use more time as an special favour and grace...
c) Sargon V is said to have hash tables -yes, it does- and so in an
advantage position with respect to older competitors. Well, this creates
a controversy: If we begin to try to put all these machines and programs
in equal conditions, maybe we will not be capable to begin the
tournament at all because all of them are extremely different pieces of
software and equipment: CPU speed, book size, the computetr where they
will be run, etc. Maybe the idea is: let them compete such as they are,
no matter what. After all, we are doing this for fun, does'nt we?
And the fun of this is the sheer fact to face old programs and computers
that at the same time are old AND of different vintages and conditions.
Maybe Sargon V never before faced Mephisto S, maybe Colossus X running
in a 200 Mhz is a real monster, maybe Saitek Simultano never played
Psion, and so and so. Is like a fight in the roman circus, each guy with
different weapons and/or againts different kind of wild animals. And we
are the public...
d) Now we must wait more participants, I think. Maybe each of us should
begint to selct his boys for the fight. Acouiple of units and or
programs for each of us? Peter? Uwe? Thosten? Christophe? Karsten?
