I don't have access to an example right now but will try to get a sample of pre and post analysis EPD files to you within 24 hours. For some reason very few chess programs handle EPD well. Rebel (not Tiger, but Century and 10, 9 etc) and Crafty are the only ones I know for sure do it right. It should be very easy to implement and many people would really like it. You have all the hard stuff done already! While I'm on the topic of my wish list for Shredder 5 (besides increased engine strength, always a + for me) my only other wish (after standard EPD output) would be to fix Shredders pv's. The first move is always good, but the rest of the pv that is displayed in analysis mode is often just nonsense. I have seen Shredder pv's where Shredder sacs multiple pieces (like 3 or 4 in a row!) for zero compensation and even illegal moves! I would prefer NO pv to a nonsense one. Other than those two things I REALLY like Shredder 4. It has a very friendly and feature full user interface, a very balanced playing style and the eval is much more reasonable for analysis than most programs. I especially like that the eval is highly symmetric. Some programs with highly asymmetric eval functions such as Rebel-Tiger or Crafty don't work as well for analysis because the eval keeps jumping around depending on whether it is white or black to move. Shredder doesn't do this, so PLEASE keep that feature. Robin Smith
