When I purchased Fritz6 I registered it with ChessBase. Within one day I received the following message from ChessBase: "Hello, thank you very much for registering your english Fritz6. We have prepared a service pack for you: 1. Please download the file [address removed] to your hard disk. Its size is 3MB. 2. Start it and enter the password [password removed]. 3. Confirm a temporary path to unpack the installation files. 4. After selecting the language of the installation, confirm the installation folder of your original Fritz6. This service pack replaces files in your original installation. This Service Pack contains a stronger engine and introduces time controls for handicap/friend/sparring/rated levels. Moreover the program is now available in French." Thus, I assume I now have Fritz6a. I have seen all the posting about 6b but I doubt there's an "official" 6b out there. Maybe I'm naive but I believe that ChessBase would inform me (a registered user) if there was an update available. Besides Steve Lopez has been quoted (in an earlier post) as saying he has no knowledge about a version 6b. I would think he would know, right? IMHO, FWIW James
