Pardon me if this has been reported already, but in a late issue of ComputerSweden there is a brief story called "Deep Blue more famous than Larry King". "Three years ago IBM's supercomputer Deep Blue became famous when it defeated the human chess world champion Garri Kasparov. Now it turns out that Deep Blue still is a celebrity. According to a survey paid for by IBM, Deep Blue is just as well-known as Carmen Electra in Baywatch. CNN's news anchor Larry King is just behind DB on the list. 1200 persons were asked in the survey and almost 50% recognized the name of IBM's supercelebrity. In spite of the fact that the computer already have had its 15 minutes of lime light and no longer is active, it is still well known. Now it lives an easy life as a retired binary at IBM's office in Yorktown, where it plays chess against foreign dignitaries."
