Subject: Position "a" <> position a?

Supposing to ignore 50 moves rule and 3 moves repetitions, anybody could think
that position "a" is equal to position "a". This means that it is not important
the moves played to reach a position, but just the position itself. Ops... we
have to suppose even that castling and en-passant are not changed its
availability. I think that two identical position could be the same but they
could be even as different. What i'm thinking is that if we could know the
reason why a player make a moves, we can search for the better answer. If a
program could be so smart to analize the passed moves, with a little psichology,
then that program could play better, almost against human (but we can find a
psichology even for programs?). If i want to capture a pawn, maybe i lock that
pawn with a knight and attack with a bishop. The same pieces moved in another
order maybe means that i don't care about that pawn but i want to do something
else...

This leads us to call "position" not only the position itself but all the path
of moves, taken in theyr order.

This is just a monday's morning thought ;-)

Ciao!!!
