Subject: Getting best DOS environment for chess programs when using windows

Hello, can someone tell me how to get a "True" DOS operating environment when
running windows 98?  My classic DOS chess programs, Fritz3, MCP8, HIARCS7, etc.,
sometimes run slow or freeze up when running under the MSDOS Icon of windows 98.
Even when you reboot into DOS mode, DOS is still running through windows.  I
would like a clean boot to only the DOS environment for these programs.  Any
suggestions would be helpful.  As most people know, the computer manuals are
poor aboud describing this.
