The table below shows 'move count' and 'frequency' for CSTal genmoves on the entire BT2630 test suite at 10 seconds per move. frequency is the number of times genmove generated N moves during the searches. ie. there were exactly 8 moves arising from a node, 1147 times. The max frequency was 1 move, this occurred 10001 times, and the min frequency was 61 moves which occurred once. The were no hits at all at 62 moves and above. I guess that the high figures at 1 to 4 moves or so, is maybe due to the search's desire to travel down more forcing lines; or maybe, more likely, reflects replies to check. The relatively few counts at 0 probably reflects CSTal's ability to calcualate mate and stalemate in its evaluation function, and thus not need to tack on an extra level of search to prove this.
