Hello,
just wanted to reply to the ram question. I have a 1 gig athlon overclocked
with an asus k7v, to 1050 mhz. When I built this new chess gamer, I already had
384 megs of 100 mhz sdram in another pc. So I used these three sticks of 128
@100 mhz for my new gamer. The kns with the hash setting at 48, is 970 kns. The
kns with the hash at 128 is 940 kns.
I ordered 1 stick of 128 megs @ 150mhz from mushkin. This is the hsdram
they are presently selling, CAS 2 modules (2:3:2) @ 150. With the 100 mhz sdram
removed, and the 150 mhz mushkin installed, these are my results.
With the ram set at 143 mhz in my asus motherboard, my processor at 1050
mhz, and the hash at 48 megs, the search speed increased to 990 kns with the
mushkin 150 mhz ram. An increase of 20 kns. This ends up being a 2% increase,
and as all of you know, this small number will not increase your gaming strength
at all. Stay with the basics for now until the ddr comes out with the 1.7
athlon. This combo should hit 1700 kns.
Oh by the way did you see the dual 1 gig at the Dell site, this should be
strong with any of the available dual processor software. amazing---where will
it end.
