It gets worse Steve,

I have the 1001 Brilliant Ways to Checkmate copyright 1955. It does not say
when it was printed. I spent the last hour trying to find a bug in my program
that did not exist. The book shows mate in 6 but my program kept showing mate
in 7. Both started out with Bxf6. My program shows a delaying knight check to
delay the checkmate. The bishop was taking my rook and then my Queen took the
bishop. I thought this was stupid as the Queen had mate in the next move. I
spent an hour trying to find out why the Queen would not mate the King. Then I
looked at the position and saw the bishop was checking my King so the Queen had
to take the bishop after all. Very frustrating!

I wonder is there is a newer version of the BWTC book. I think I have had mine
for over 10 years now.

Larry.
