That depends on how important you think some extra kNPS is for you? When I did a
little test on a Athlon (Slot A) 900 MHz vs. a Pentium III 700 MHz, I noticed
that Crafty is nearly as fast on the PIII 700 than on the Athlon 900! Fritz was
faster on the Athlon and Comet was clearly faster. I though admit that a more
interesting approach would be to test the computers at similar clock speeds.
Will test some more when I find some Duron / Thunderbird-models.
