Maybe this isn't right place but...

I have myself only an old 386/25Mhz machine. My Nero is not an old
program.
But it is "Yesterdays technicue of today!"  I think that level 4 with a
pentium processor could make about one move per hour...

I _don't_ propose that you use it in your tournament, but it would be
nice
to have _some_ results. How it does against some old programs. (Even
with pentium I think it's probably worse than any old program... :-)

So if someone has nothing better to do...


Nero's calculations are almost pure brute force based. Only level 3 has
some
selectivity: It doesn't search what would be opponent's second reply, if
the
situation looks bad enough after three plies.

It doesn't really look for mates in it's ply search. King is just one
piece
among the others, much more valuable thought.
