At tournament level , they are clearly outplayed by newer programs as Shredder 4 or chessmaster 6k. To my opinion, the best Genius is the version 3 (this defeated Kasparov in 1994) which seems stronger than the latest versions at 2h/40 moves. It is confirmed by the chess bit rating : 2609 for genius 3 and only 2550 for genius 6.5. I am still comparing the 3 and the 6.5 at 2h/40 moves against chessmaster 6k and I will post the games when a sufficient number is achieved. I am sure that a 32 bit rewriting of genius 3 without changing anything (exept perhaps the fact that it often "forgets" to castle) would produce a very good program. > >WINCOMMS tourneys: http://members.rpa.net/~jdenzler
