It seems to me that the last version of WCrafty is a better blitzer than Shredder 3, but still can't win a match against Shredder 4. The Genius 6.5 interface isn't that perfect interface to test WCrafty, though. I would like to hear more opinions... WCrafty's opening books from Dr. Hyatt's ftp site seem to work better than Shredder's (from CD-ROM). In the last WMCC 2000 we have already seen the difficulties Shredder had in the opening phase. I know Shredder5 is to be released and as a customer I would like to know if the new opening books to be released will work with Shredder 3 & 4. Will Shredder 5 work with Winboard as an engine? WCrafty 17.13 is really a great engine. Thanks Dr. Hyatt for such a great job! Well, about Shredder, I would say it is a nice "Champion" program; I would like to see it being sold separately (and cheaper); Genius lacks some updates; Nimzo is a great blitzer; but Wcrafty is strong enough for the most of us, and it is free. That's really amazing. Some of my friends ask why do we need to get the latest copy of the WMCC Champion, or the #1 in SSDF... it really doesn't make any sense to us, common chess players. What are the differences in analysys mode? Is there such a great difference? I'd really want to know what you guys think. A. Ponti
