Just don't let the king escape or even the >100 move is gonna get tough :) Yes, you should always be able to mate if the number of files/rows is even. But it's not possible to force the mate on a e.g. 9x9 board where all corner squares have the same color and you have the wrong bishop :-) Greetings, Steffen.
