That's what I thought. I'm trying to highlight the benefits of a dual system as opposed to two separate PCs. I suppose that even if two instances have to be executed, I can cut n' paste games/positions easily between them. The usual "make" under linux will use >multiple cpus to compile different source modules at the same time. Thanks for the advice. The compiler I had in mind is MS Visual C++ v6. I'll double check this. I was lead to believe that it could compile separate modules simultaneously. I didn't expect to gain anything on a single module, as you say. Gordon
