Definitely! The amount of information available on the web and
in other sources is quite large. However, it is not all in one place
and it is not all self-explainatory. The ability to ask questions
(and to simply absorb) both here and on rgcc is crucial to success.
The time that you and others take to answer those questions
thoughtfully is very much appreciated by beginners like me.

On my web page, I've put together some links to information sources
for aspiring chess programmers. These are sources that I found
valuable. There are others as well, but these should be enough
to get someone started.

An older version (v2.03) of my program (along with source code) is
also available from that page. I hope to release a new version
sometime after the holidays.
