Something else I was thinking about is variable contempt and aggressiveness. I
feel fritz6 is a little stronger against good opponents when the contempt is at
-30, aggressiveness at -1 and selectivity at 3 in the beginning of the game. I
don't believe Having that setting always going would be for the best however. I
think it'd be nice if programs could see that their eval is -1.55 and whatnot
and figure, "Well, I'll be screwed pretty soon so maybe I shouldn't be so
aggressive" then have it play very defensive. Also it might be a good idea to
have it play cautious in the beginning to kind of 'access' the situation. Once
it's gained a bit of a lead start putting on the pressure & become more
aggressive, if the opponent starts to counter or whatnot again it would
automatically tune down it's aggressiveness. Just a thought..
