I read somewhere (some GM wrote it) that a rating difference of 300 points converts to a win expectation of 90 %, no matter what the position is. I can readily believe that. R+N vs. R I know from hard experience: I did manage to draw that once (I had the solitary Rook, I should perhaps add :-) against a player rated about 200 higher than me. It is *a lot* easier. (Presuming, of course, that the position is a theoretical draw to begin with.) Charley Charley
