You are absolutely right, just skins. And a few other things, but hardly worth
the mention.



New features of ChessBase 8.0

Board window
* Free resizing of windows with automatic scaling of the board.
* Wide choice of piece and board styles.
* Special search window for Reference and Online database: One click search
lists all games that match the current board position.
* Search in the reference database for all moves played in the current board
position, with full statistics.
* One-click review of search results - ChessBase transfers the game to the board
and jumps to the relevant position.
* Table notation with footnotes for densely annotated openings lines.
* Book (previously "Tree") permanently accessible in the board window.
* Book edit window show all important continuations, including the critical
line, on a variation board.
* In the book edit window a double-click or right-click and menu will copy the
variation into the game notation.
* Integrate photo window which automatically displays pictures of the players. A
double-click on the picture retrieves the full biography and the dossier of the
player.
* Automatic transfer of the current board position to Fritz, where you can play
on against the program or process the game with the Fritz functions (e.g.
natural language annotation, blunder-check, postal analysis, etc).
* Undo: take back all deletions and variation entry in a game.
* Easy annotation of games with the new annotation palette.
* Window layout can be saved, including active engines. Select from preset
layouts for different purposes.
* Optional 3D board.
* Full screen board mode in high-resolution graphics.
* Quick "threat" display with a red arrow - without disturbing the engine.
* Games from other lists can be added to the search result window with Drag &
Drop.
* Tournament table can be generated for the currently loaded game.
* Search for the current board position in the current game (useful in densely
annotated games to find whether the position occurs in a different line).

Database explorer
* Display databases in Explorer style as symbols or detailed list which can be
sorted by a click in the header line.
* Direct access to databases in all drives and directories.
* Recently loaded games and databases available in file menu.

Engines
* Variation board in the engine window.
* Repetition and 50 move rule applied to analysis.

* A single keystroke (Ctrl-Space) inserts the best line of all working engines
into the notation.

Search
* Search in our weekly updated Online database.
* A new TurboCache for the reference database reduces retrieval times for
complex searches to seconds. If there is sufficient RAM the entire reference
database will be stored in memory.
* Search includes variations.
* Search for sacrifice combinations, combine this with positional fragments and
manoeuvres. Examples:
  "All combinations from the tournament Zurich 1953";
  "The combinations of Paul Morphy or Efim Geller"
  "Mating combinations on the open h-file"
* Search for checks and mates in the manoeuvre search (example: White mates with
Nh6).

Cross tables
* Generate tables for the currently loaded game.
* Tables display flags for the nationality of the individual players (retrieved
from the players encyclopedia).
E-mail
* One-click e-mail directly from ChessBase. Send databases, marked games or even
entered games from the board window, with diagrams, in plain text, HTML, PGN or
bitmap graphics.

Printing
* New print preview.
HTML output
* One-click creation of HTML pages with replayable Javascript, including
annotation, to present games on the Internet.
Database maintenance
* Improved double check greatly improved speed.
* Improved integrity check.

Miscellaneous
* Improved repertoire database functions - automatic assignment of openings
names.
* ChessBase 8.0 has network capability.
