Subject: Manufacturers tend to be secretive

Unfortunately, most manufacturers tend to guard their trade secrets even to the
detriment of themselves ie Ford/Firestone. Performance data is considered to be
off-limits for widespread dissemination because it may lead to a loss in sales.

Realistically, what leads to a real loss in sales is a company that plays
hardball and is stingy in its' approach to public relations. I have not bought
Shredder yet and I doubt that I will in the future.. but that may change.

Shredder is a very good program but it needs to be marketed as a stand-alone
product. I am not going to spend $100.00 US anymore for any single chess
program. There is just too much competition out there.
