Chess Genius 1.2 for Palm (released today) now reads/writes games and positions. This update should be very welcome, since game save/load has been the #1 user request in the comments I've seen on PalmGear (see: http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=6018 for user comments, download link, and home page link) More info (and free demo/update download) also at www.chessgenius.com. CG 1.2 reads PGN games, and positions encoded in PGN via the FEN tag. CG 1.2 also saves games as a memo in near-PGN format, which then can be edited, deleted, categorized, or beamed using the built-in Palm memo application. I say "near-PGN", since the output has several deviations from the PGN standard: - only one of the seven standard PGN tags is written out [Event] - the required blank lines before and after the movetext are missing - there are no line breaks in the movetext. Other than that, Chess Genius output seems to be fully PGN compliant - I found none of the many annoying deviations present in other programs. With the above exceptions, it faithfully read and reproduced the standard IECC PGN test game (appended). Chess Genius will also save positions created in Chess Genius, via the FEN tag. -Richard Fowell =========== cut here ========== [Event "PGN Examples"] [Site "IECC"] [Date "1997.04.15"] [Round "?"] [White "Brown, Mary"] [Black "Green, John"] [Result "1-0"] 1. e4 e5 2.
