A position with settings (time control, yes or no on book, levels, etc.) requires 160 bytes. A position without settings requires 75 bytes. Each ply requires only one byte except for the first 2 ply which is zero bytes. Therefore, a position without settings at 10 ply equals 83 bytes. (75 + 10 - 2) = 83 A position with settings at 13 ply equals 171 bytes. (160 + 13 - 2) = 171 The difference between with and without settings always equal 85 bytes. (160 - 75) = 85 Give Rich Lang credit on the main executable program; it uses 54,313 bytes. The rating on a 50 MHZ computer is 2450 USCF. Jonathan (72nd message)
