If you are running Windows 95, the problem is known and you need to install the
program AMDK6UPD.EXE (it's a bug in Windows 95 with AMD processors of 350MHz or
faster).

If you have W98 or higher, you don't need this update.

It could also be that you have a faulty SDRAM module. Try to exchange the RAM
modules locations, or try other modules.

Or the processor has a problem. You can try to run it at a much lower speed just
to see if the problem is still there. Overclocked processors can do that (crash
after several minutes) if you run them too fast.

You can also try to run the processor at a slightly higher voltage. 2.2V is
sometimes not enough for some AMD processors. In this case 2.4V fixes the
problem.

One ugly thing that happened to me and did exactly what you describe: check that
the processor fan is OK. If it does not work, the system will hang after 2 to 3
minutes (or less).

It looks like an obvious thing, but I have been caught by this problem very
stupidly last year. Actually the fan sometimes worked, and sometimes it stopped.
When I looked at it it worked, when I closed the box it stopped working. It has
been playing with my nerves until I discovered the problem and replaced it. :(

Something else to try: reinstall the system from scratch (if the computer does
not crash before the installation is complete).

Good luck.
