If you use C++ then QT is an option since there is both a Windoze version
and a Linux version.  The Linux version is free for personal use, but the
Windows version requires you to purchase a commercial license.

That said, it is MUCH nicer than programming in X (which I consider GUI
assembly language ;)  And it avoids all the brain damage of MFC.
