I have an even better trick for you :

type "abort" in a lost position. If it is granted instantely that was an engine
with abort on. If it says "Sorry this computer does not accept aborts" - well
you know :).

Of course mr. cheater could have hacked winboard to get around this problem but
most don't have the knowledge to do that.
