It must be taken into account that you can get into X plys in very different ways, so comparison between, say, 14 plys by Fritz and 14 by dB are not very sound. I understand that DB was a lot less selective, or better said, it made a more exhaustive search, if not total in all or many of the nodes. Bob surely knows better. What i am sure is that even when commercial stuff is said to be searching in full widht, it is not. There is a lot of prunning in the so called "wide search" by now, but of course a lot more in depth one. In fact, at equal ply depth, DB looks many more moves than any coomercial program. I would say one or two orders of magnitude more. That counts a lot. Fernando
