Right now I'm working through for a second time O'Kelly's book "Assess Your Chess Fast: From Expert to Master" and in his exercise section he has 176 positions ... 2/3 are endgames and 1/3 are middlegame combinations. They are well varied and quite difficult. I've divided them into 4 tests of 44 exercises each. I'm in the middle of running the suites and have completed the first test on 6 engines ... Crafty 17.13, Yace 0.23, Amy 0.7, Bringer 1.7, Zchess 2.0 and EXchess 3.14. Tests were run on a Celeron 300, hash=32MB, no TBs, each position 5 minutes. The scores were respectively: 35, 37, 31, 31, 33, and 30. Yace performed very well missing only 7 (really only 6) solutions: 01:01, 01:02, 01:07, 02:13, 03:03, 03:06, and 04:02. 02:13 has an alternative solution which all the programs got ... so all the scores go up by one.
