Primarily "this or that post should be deleted.  this is not the place for
two entities to threaten law suits, make outrageous claims, and so forth."
We let it go for a good while, hoping it would slowly die.  But eventually
the number of complaints made it obvious something should be done.

I don't think this is the right forum to "try" such a case.  If they want to
take it to a legal court of law, that is their choice.  But this isn't such a
court.  Individual complaints to the moderators don't result in a thread being
deleted, although they may well result in a single post getting the axe.  But
this case had enough complaints to cause further action.  And the basic decision
was to delete everything to be as fair as possible to both.

The main complaint was it turned very personal, with lots of threats and
counter-threats.
