Dan, >That did the trick. With the null-move off I get 12 Mnodes... Yes that was the problem! I was trying to be too clever with Null moves. It now searches 1400 kn in ~ 9 secs. The only problem now is that I see that the first move cutoff ratio is only 84% - far too low! Thanks for the help! Steve
