I would like to accomodate you guys with a public domain version that
will run on Windows. But the program is only a few weeks old and its
first outing was at the Dutch Championship which it was not ready to
play in.

I want to build a nice X windows interface for linux/windows first and
then will look at the Windows 95 port. But the program is designed
for parallel machines and Unix so it will involve some work. Also it is
a 64 bit program and unusually slow on Pentiums which is essentially
32 bit. I may be able to salvage the speed if I spend some time
optimizing it for the Pentium.

Are there any GUI interfaces available for windows so that I do not
have to do any serious interface work? I would consider a port
sooner if I could avoid this hassle. The program easily and quickly
compiles in serial version mode and I doubt I'll have any trouble
porting the actual engine. I can run the program using Xboard too
and I know there is a port for Windows but the features in Xboard
are almost non-existant.

We also have a guy here porting CILK our parallel language to Windows.
SMP's are getting very cheap and within a couple of years I'll bet
a lot of you guys have them in your homes!
