Go up one level in this thread

Not at all and I have no doubt that your chess programs are among the best at the moment and will probably sell very well indeed. However, this thread wasn't about quality but about quantity. Does Mike Adams need Rebel Tiger II on top of the programs he already have? I don't think he does, but he deserves better advice than he got IMO. I do find the elitist attitude you displayed in the previous post somewhat tiring. You were essentially mocking everyone interested in chess programs as a hobby, not as an occupation or a "lifestyle". That's why I mentioned the roots. There's no difference in liking a freeware product or a commercial product. Implying that spending money equates seriousness is rude. >You don't even know the price of the product. How can you tell it is overpriced? Sorry, I was thinking about the Shredder price tag. >With Rebel-Tiger II you get 4 very strong chess engines. And you can also use >any Winboard program you like. > >Can you give me an example of a better bargain? I don't know the price, so it's hard to tell. But I still wonder why you're trying to convince me. >Obviously you don't need it, but it looks like you also need to convince other >people here that they don't need it. That's pure rubbish. I only reacted because a prospective buyer was being subjected to poor help from the betatesters. After I tried to clarify a few things with (provokative?) questions I received polite, sensible and usable answers from Enrique and Peter. The IMO obnoxious reply from Faber triggered the thread we're in now with the unnecessary quibbling. I should probably have let Faber have his fun and ignored him. People can buy any program they want. That's none of my business. But I do find the information offered to this prospective buyer as inadequate and unnecessarily biased. Providing an objective list of features and a reference to the appropriate Rebel page didn't seem impossible. You can read the thread in its entirety if you don't believe me. >I fear you'll have to buy the product. I'll think about it. >Unless you are reluctant to give a little of your money for quality software. Not at all, but I think I'll save my money and buy CB8 instead. I hear the database features are excellent :o). Mogens.
