Go up one level in this thread

I appreciated you stirring up the line a bit. Some of the original answers
such as "if you dont buy it you dont have what it takes to be one of us" were
not the kind of answer i was looking for. I think your two original posts
challenging the beta testers to really explain what the product offers were
good.
For those of you who have forgotten the original post remember i allready
have 4 quality engines, fritz 6, hiarcs 7.32, nimzo 99 and junior 5, not to
mention about 15 winboard engines many of which run in fritz as well. One of
the things i was curious about was that if the variation in engine style of
rebel is completely different than what chessbase offers in its 4 engines. Or is
the difference between Fritz and Nimzo as great as the difference between Rebel
and Junior?
I have gathtered some information from this thread. One it will run winboard
engines and can have a match between two engines, two it will analise my games
like fritz does meaning it will 'digest' a 30 move game and write up commentary
on all the moves not just have an analis mode i assume? It appears to have some
database features and can make books. The database is not such a big deal as i
have chessbase 7 but its nice to know i can create my own books from game files.
I assume there are playing levels ect.
Now in windows there are two engines I assume and one extra analisis engine
and then one dos engine. So if i play in windows i get to use 2 engines for
playing, correct? I'm still going to have to think about it and wait and see
what the price is. One other option i have if i want more engines is to go and
buy the young talents cd were i get about 6 or 7 medium to medium strong engines
on one cd for 65 bucks. As always there are choices but i am continuning to
keep an open mind about rebel and generally the only thing that causes me to
close my mind is if a product comes out with a price that is just way to high. I
hope rebel doesnt do that.
