well: to be precise you have two incarnations of tiger which are quite different
and ok this should be considered the best part of it. Furthermore there is Rebel
for DOS that many still would not very much like, not because of the engine
which is fantastic, but because of the dear old dos interface. Finally you have
a windows version of the Rebel engine for analysis. This of course is better
that not having it but it is not really a 4-th engine: it is very similar to the
DOS version (I do not consider the various versions of fritz engine in SB
software as a real plus if I buy it) and you cannot play against it.

Database capability is to generic: also winboard can load and save games, what
makes a databse is the range of features it has. So we would need some of the
Tiger staff illustrating which nice features it has.

this is one of the weakest side of ChessBase software. The adapter was a good
idea, but badly implemented: we all now its limits in compatibility and its bad
habit of resetting the hash table. Of course as a first release was again good
since it was given for free.
On the other side, I guess that now they have little interest in making a second
version that overcomes this problems, since they make native version of the
winboard engines and, if they are good enough, they sell them.

On the other side when all the other programs will have a better interface to
the winboard engines (MCS system, Chess Vision and Chess Academy have it
already, Chess Master and Rebel might have in next versions) they might be
"forced" by popular demand to issue a better winboard adapter.

>Engines: A multitude of strong engines. Some for free.

This is a totally misleading statement!

The point here is that you can get some free engines (crafty and comet are very
good e.g.) , but for all the others (Hiarcs, Nimzo, Junior) you have to buy and
pay the full program again (apart for the 2 winboard compatible engines that are
not freely available and you can buy stand alone from the web).

>Database: Ability to create and maintain databases.

this is one of the best side of CB stuff: you can do without a real chess
databse if you have fritz
