Enrique, you know very well how shy I am when it comes to e-mailing people....

LOL

whats there to tell about x-treme?

here are some infos,

the author is from asia, doesnt speak (much) english, speaks chinese, spanish
and bangla (my language).
he has been working on this program for 9 years now, right from the scratch.

according to him, his biggest influence was "Deep Blue",
he almost stoped working on the program, but started again when he bought a CM
copy, and was impressed by its playing strength. (dunno which version).

the early version of x-treme was known as "Martian" :)
Recently he has been working really hard on the program, he is planning to make
it commercial, and he is also aware of the competition, So before releasing the
program he wants to make sure he doesnt sale "junk" to the consumers :)

Anyways, I met him last year in a computer fair, since then I know his program.
it is only recent times that "x-treme" has become stronger, and is worth talking
about. Winboard porting was my suggestion, including automated book creation,
saving games like Yace.gam format (thiking time, last book move),
book.lrn e.t.c.

known bugs; some ICS problems (sometimes stucks in auto-rematch), freezes if
hash table is more than 32mb, and some minor interface related bugs here and
there....

when will be released? No one knows , even the author doesnt. he just wants to
make -sure- that its worth making it commercial.
whats good is it to buy a chess programs thats not even 50-100 elo better than
crafty?, I see no reason unless you are just a collector (which I am ) :).

at my knowledge 6-9 people are beta-tester, I cant tell for sure coz I dont know
all the testers.

Playing strength?
hmmm, according to my testing its comparable to the strength of nimzo2000b,
in long time controls, but bad in blitz (comparably).

I hope he doesnt sue me for saying that :)

his name and nationality and adress and blah blah blah...... are confidential :)

CIA agent?? LOL

tell me more about Deep fritz, I have some games played in ICS against deep
fritz, preety impressive, but I guess its just a SMP version of fritz6a with
minor modification in the playing strength (according to the operator)
