I am not sure if white is winning only by the position.

The clear win that I see is winning on time.
I expect most players to continue in the relevant position
40.f5 is the 40th move so it is logical to suspect that white won on time
assuming 2 hours/40 moves.

Another possibility is that anand did not feel well and in the bad position he
prefered not to continue.

Another possibility is that anand blundered in the 40th move and resigned after
it when the sides did not write the last move.
