You should use the copy tree to disk command in the fritz menu as was noted earlier and not copy by hand. The file extension is *.ctg so look for a file in the chessbase folder or subfolder that has this extension and is farily large like 50 to 100 megs. I believe in fritz its called general.ctg. I didnt copy it to the default location so i'm not sure what directory it puts it in but it might not be the books directory though it should be in a directory that has fritz or chessbase stuff. find of *.ctg or general.ctg should find the book. then go to open tree and open it.
