Hello:

I think this is a very difficult question for answering in one posted message.

The clue point is: what are your real needs as a Programmer?

For example, I have realized in your postings that you have been pretty worried
in getting the Communication Compatibility among the most important Chess GUISs.

If this is your intention, you should buy at least two of the most important
GUIs that you like it or those ones that offers you the best operations options
for putting in function your Winboard Engine succesfully.

I cannot give comparisons because I don't know how it functions the future
Winboard Adapter in ChessMaster 8000. But I have ChessPartner 5.0b, Fritz and
the Chess Millenium System that offers you a winboard adapter.

Mi liking goes to the Chess Partner 5.0 and the Chess Millenium System GUIs.

Best Regards, Arturo.
