A few years ago I was gently complaining to Tony Marsland about having to play black against Fritz every single time, it was something like 6 in a row. He was surprised that I cared, he didn't seem to think it matters if a computer plays white or black. I looked at him like he was insane. It matters a lot. If you talk to the programmers at a tournament, playing black is something they don't want to do. But I get the idea from Tony's comment that it didn't used to matter. bruce
