Same here, I've got a few test cases where my zh program gets to
depth 2 in 5 seconds.. and they are from real games.
It seems like you have to do something about checks, since its really
hard to reasonably evaluate a position where your king is in check.
But with full check extensions I've seen way too many positions
searched 2 ply deep with extensions to 39 ply.
