In terms of the project, you might have to think in terms of the IBM corporation's actual cost, in which case they probably made more money from capitalizing on it, than they spent on it. Good corporations only spend money if they can make it into more money. But the initial costs would probably be something that nobody at CCC would really know. Because you could easily find the cost of the mainframes that it ran on, but it also had some extra hardware that was specifically for the task (or am I wrong?), and then there would be developement time, programming time, and a whole team of people involved in the whole project. I have doubts that anyone at IBM could even give you a very specific cost for the Deep Blue monster. Only guessing. Pete
